A quick look

  • The "Big Sky Country" of Montana offers some of the best views on the route. The Rockies reach for the skies in the western part of the state where I'll be traveling.
  • The only state drained by river systems that empty into the Pacific Ocean, Hudson Bay, and Gulf of Mexico.
  • State web site

Terrain

  • Varied topography but more of the same Rocky Mountains that were encountered in Colorado and Wyoming.

Weather

  • Warm days and cool nights.
  • Thunderstorms are common in the late afternoon.

There are so many things that I will be able to tell about Wyoming that I have no idea about right now. When I read accounts of the TransAmerica trail through Wyoming it seems that people are left speechless. The pain of climbing mountains is numbed by the beautiful views.

Missoula, Montana is home to the Adventure Cycling Association. I'll look forward to the free cookies and conversation with the staff. There is a farmers market on Saturday morning and Tuesday evening at the end of Higgins Street.
