Missouri
Segment 4th State
Days 5
Mileage (% of total) 355.5 mi (7.7%)

A quick look

  • The "Show Me" state is named for the Missouri River.

Terrain

  • The Ozark Mountains are the predominant feature in the eastern part of the state. Cyclists report a roller coaster sensation with all the "ups and downs." River valleys offer some respit to the hilly riding.
  • Western Missouri is much flatter, consisting mainly of rolling hills.

Weather

  • Humid, hot (just like the other states)

The Ozark Mountains are expected to be a bear to ride. They are much like the Appalachians but with frequent, short climbs (and decents). The Ozark National Scenic Riverways area is expected to be nice.

This state has just as much natrual beauty but fewer prominent tourist traps than previous states. It is quite rural but not as much as Kansas will be!
