Alternate Ending in Astoria, Oregon

If time allows I will end the transcontinental portion of the Journey in Astoria, Oregon and ultimately finish somewhere between Astoria and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

To the right is a map of the final segment of the TransAmerica route. I'll be headed west on route 126 when I enter Eugene. This is the point at which the route splits and heads either to Florence or Astoria.

The TransAmerica route officially ends in Astoria so it would be very fitting to end this journey there. Astoria is the oldest settlement west of the Mississippi and is where John Jacob Astor started the Pacific American Fur Company in 1811. It is also near the site of Lewis and Clark's Pacific-coast encampment.

Alternate Ending Beyond Astoria, Oregon

The first segment of the Pacific Coast Route is shown below outlined in yellow - the numbers refer to maps available from ACA. If all goes well I'll be able to follow this route north toward Vancouver. It sure would be nice to exceed my own expections and end in Washington State or British Columbia.w
