"Bicycling is a big part of the future. It has to be. There's
something wrong with a society that drives a car to workout in a gym."

WHAT WILL HE DO WITH ALL HIS SPARE TIME?
Larry Flint, a physics and chemistry teacher at Williamsport Area High
School in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, plans to ride the TransAmerica
Bicycle Trail this summer with a number of goals in mind: 1)Building a
global-positioning-system database for the TABT that will include
waypoints for each turn, as well as altitudes for a detailed elevation
profile (he's working with Adventure CyclingÕs cartography department
on this one); 2)Raise funds for a science education scholarship at his
alma mater, Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania; and 3)Record data
in an effort to study the efficiency of the "human machine." Flint plans
to begin his "Discovery Ride" in Yorktown, Virginia, on June 9 and wind
up in Florence, Oregon, around August 17.

BRINGING NEW MEANING TO "FLAT ON YOUR BUTT"
Mark ArchibaldÕs wife suffered a serious blowout during the year 2000
version of the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure, yet her tires were fine.
How can this be? Check out "Gel riding shorts are not for everyone."

THESE GUYS KNOW HOW TO HAVE FUN
The United Kingdom's Bog Trotters Mountain Bike Club bill themselves
as "almost definitely one of the top 1,000,000 MTB clubs in the world!
We are a CTC-affiliated mountain bike club who actually ride up and
down mountains (and no we don't wear pedal pushers and cycling caps!)
We base ourselves at the Blue Anchor Pub (great beer and hospitality
for dirty wet bikers) north of Lancaster." By clicking on the address
below not only can you learn more about the Bog Trotters, but also
find links to the "Top 50 UK Cycling Sites."

LET YOUR MOUSE-POINTER DO THE WALKING
Adventure Cycling's publication The Cyclists' Yellow Pages is pos-
itively, unequivocally, beyond doubt, indubitably, and unquestionably
the premier bicycle-tour planning resource in existence - really!
Now, for the first time in the 23-year history of the CYP's, the
publication is available on-line. There you will find listed more
tour operators, maps, domestic and foreign cycling information sources,
publications and periodicals, and organized tours than you can shake
a frame pump at. http://www.adv-cycling.org/cypsearch

REEL CYCLING
What do the movies "E.T. the Extraterrestrial," "The Tall Blonde Man
With One Black Shoe," and "Project A" starring Jackie Chan have in
common? All of them include classic bicycling scenes, and all three
are listed - along with more than two dozen other flicks - on the
Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition's "Bicycle Movies" page.
